Let’s consider that transsexual persons have always existed.

Transgender is new, and it denotes ‘gender’ as its intangible, ever malleable and undefinable characteristic of male/female existence.

Gender is culturally defined. Thus, if you wanted to ‘change your gender’, there isn’t a lot stopping you from doing that. Gender is the performance of one’s biological sex. It has nothing to do with hormones or wearing different clothes.

So, why are we all so oppressed?

Are transwomen oppressed?

Problem is, it's conversational practice these days to refer to use the term ‘community’. Trans community, African-American community, gay and lesbian community…and so on.

Problem with this is in the way that this erases the case by case basis required to determine one’s gender.
